This is a rant on behalf of federal employees; unofficially. (Rant Alert
means please overlook the following for grammatical or spelling errors. Oh
yeah, the profanity too):
Many who contribute to Fox News have chosen to call this a
government Slim down, as opposed to a government Shutdown. As a federal employee I am appalled.
Granted, I am lucky enough to still be working and earning a
(hopeful) impending paycheck, so I can see why one could get the idea that
government is not completely shut down. However, the fact that a heavily relied
upon news source * would sugarcoat a situation that puts roughly 800,000
workers out of work is completely irresponsible. Look, this rant is not
directed at democrats or republicans; this is directed at Fox News. And for
your information, my opinion is more "fair and balanced" than
anything I have ever seen or read from your organization. Hey...Fox News, I was
forced to watch my co-workers go home with uncertainty to when they would
return and where their next income would come from. Hey...Fox News, I felt so guilty that I had
to watch colleagues go home while I was named as an excepted employee (keep
working) that I was reduced to stock goodbyes like, "I hope I see you
soon." Hey…Fox News, I have spent
the last four days making sure that hardworking, dedicated employees still get
the pay they deserve. All while carefully navigating fiscal laws that could
easily be ACCIDENTALLY violated, which could literally send people to JAIL, who
never even intended to break the law. Hey...Fox News, I did all that while helping
PROUD (regularly) employed individuals suck up that pride and file for
unemployment, some for the first time in their lives. Hey…Fox News, I just
turned your news station on my television.
You know what I saw within 30 seconds? I heard these words, directly
verbatim from Geraldo Rivera’s mustache; “Now I hear people say, 'why didn’t
they shoot the tires out?'...That only happens in the movies.” Thank you for
your expert take Mr. Mustache. Hey…Fox News, look at what you’re talking about
and look at how I have spent the last four days (And I’m lower on the
totem-poll than most still working). Remind me how or why your employees are
more important than those of the federal government. Maybe your organization should go on a “Slim
Down.” Hey…Fox News…Go Fuck Yourself!
P.S. If you are reading this, then you care, so please…never
watch or use Fox News for information again, they do not deserve your
time...YOU'RE better than that.

their news from Fox News, the largest percentage of ANY specific news
organization
