December 24, 2009 - The Affordable Health Care for America Act (dubbed Obamacare) passes in Senate.
March 21, 2010 - Affordable Health Care for America Act passes in House of Representatives
March 22, 2010 - One day after passing the Affordable Health Care for America Act some representatives in the House initiate the first bill repealing the Affordable Health Care for America Act.
March 23, 2010 - President Obama signs the Affordable Health Care for America Act into law; it is later revised and ultimately put into law on March 30, 2010. Many aspects of the bill are not effective until fiscal year 2014 (October 1, 2013).
September 20, 2013 The House of Representatives pushes forward their 41st attempt to repeal The Affordable Health Care for America Act, this time marrying a repeal of Obamacare to the budget for Fiscal Year 2014, the Senate rejects the bill (for the 41st time).
Since September 20, 2013. Back and forth doing the same thing in different ways The House pushes forward legislation to repeal and/or delay portions of The Affordable Heath Care for America Act by tying it to the budget and the Senate rejects the bill.
Opinion-ish Alert: Instead of accepting the fact that repealing Obamacare was never going to pass (bang your head on your desk 40 times and then hope for a different result the 41st time), the House chose to try to take the country hostage by threatening a government shutdown if they didn't get their way. The fact that nobody knows this bill by its actual name, but as Obamacare, shows how significant this bill is to the president. This bill was passed BEFORE Obama was re-elected. Essentially, the people have spoken on this issue in the 2012 election.
Last few facts/figures I would like to leave you with:
The president represents the entire country, roughly, 316,000,000 people.
The average Senator represents roughly, 6,320,000 people.
The average Representative of the House represents roughly, 710,000 people.
